Jamie is a proud lifetime resident of Rocky Point, Prince Edward Island, where he is raising the fifth generation of Curries to live in the Currie Homestead. Jamie is married to his wife Hailee Currie, and they have two children, Breton and Emerson.

Jamie graduated from the University of Prince Edward Island in 2012 and obtained his CFP® designation in 2019. He is passionate about financial planning and bringing his team and clients from good to great to optimal.

In his spare time, Jamie enjoys spending time with family, visiting their cottage in Cape Breton, traveling, playing golf and volunteering with the QEH Foundation – Charitable Golf Event.

Allan Slaunwhite B.B.A., CFP®, RRC

CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER®

Allan graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration from Acadia University in 1984, with a major in Finance and a minor in Small Business Management and Accounting. He purchased his first H&R Block franchise in that same year; eventually this would expand to two franchises with three branch offices. During his time at H&R Block he won national awards for Excellence in Client Services and Franchise of the Year.

He started with IG Wealth Management in 1996 and in 2000 he obtained his CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® designation. In 2019, Allan became securities-licensed. Drawing over 30 years of experience while growing his practice, in 2022 he made the transition to IG Private Wealth Management.

Through his extensive experience and education in taxation and business management, Allan is well-suited to work with clients to create detailed, yet easy-to-follow financial plans that will provide immeasurable value.

Allan is father to adult children Alana and Paul. When not immersed in work, he enjoys traveling the world, gardening, renovation projects and socializing with family, friends and clients.

Andrew Hughes BA, B.Ed, M.Ed, RRC

Associate Consultant

Andrew Hughes is a Registered Retirement Consultant. Andrew has over 10 years of experience in the financial services industry and comes from the field of education, having been a school administrator both in PEI and internationally. In addition to his RRC designation, Andrew holds a BA from UPEI, a B.ED from the University of Maine and a Master of Education from UPEI.

Andrew and his wife of more than 20 years, Oksana Laschuk, enjoy golfing in the summer and visiting their two daughters, Katia and Daria.

Alana Slaunwhite BSc, MBA

Associate Consultant

Alana joined Currie, Slaunwhite, Hughes & Associates in 2020, beginning in Practice Management before becoming an Associate Consultant in 2024. She had previously worked at Suncor as an Analyst after completing her Bachelor of Science and Master of Business Administration.

Drawing on her previous business and life experiences, Alana brings a dynamic perspective to the practice. She is passionate about empowering professionals and their families to make well-informed financial decisions they can be confident in.

In her personal time, Alana enjoys spending time with her partner Dan and her two cats Rocky and Cheeto. She can often be found snowboarding, biking, hiking, or scuba diving, enjoying these activities locally or while traveling the world.

Patrick Steele CFP®, RRC, BBA

CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER®

Patrick Steele holds CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® and Registered Retirement Consultant (RRC) designations, and has over five years of experience in the financial services industry. He is working towards obtaining the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation. Patrick has a passion for financial planning and enjoys taking the time in helping educate clients in further developing their financial literacy. Through planning and in-depth discussions, he aims to provide guidance for clients in achieving their financial goals.

Patrick was born and raised in Summerside, PEI and holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from UPEI. When away from the business, Patrick enjoys spending time sailing and travelling around Atlantic Canada.

Shelley MacKinnon

Executive Assistant

Shelley has worked with the practice since September 2013. Bringing over 27 years of tax background with her that began when Allan Slaunwhite had H&R Block franchises, she is an invaluable asset to the team.

Shelley is responsible for the team's operational tasks and overseeing clients' daily administrative needs. She is dedicated to the practice with a strong work ethic. Her wealth of knowledge and expertise are pivotal in the smooth operation of the team.

She lives in Pictou with her husband Brian and they have two grown children, Palmer and Kristin.

Megan Schrader B.Comm

Executive Assistant

Megan Schrader is an Executive Assistant who manages the administrative duties and client relations for the Currie, Slaunwhite, Hughes & Associates team. Megan has over 10 years of experience in Executive Assistant and Finance positions. She holds a Bachelor of Commerce Degree with a Major in Accounting from Saint Mary’s University. You can expect confidentiality, transparency, and professionalism in all of your dealings with Megan.

When she isn’t working, you’ll find Megan spending time with family, playing boardgames, knitting or attempting home renovations.

Abby Baillie

Administrative Assistant

Abby started with Currie, Slaunwhite, Hughes & Associates in 2023 after graduating from StFX with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics. She is passionate about providing an excellent client experience, which she achieves through her high-level of professionalism and attention to detail.

In her personal time, Abby volunteers at the deCoste Performing Arts Centre. She also likes to crochet, go to music festivals, and spend time with her friends and family.

Spencer Myers

Business Development Coordinator

Spencer Myers is a Business Development Coordinator for the Currie, Slaunwhite, Hughes & Associates team. He began his career as a young entrepreneur with a plumbing, heating, and cooling business, which he operated for 29 years. He branched out into retail operation as well as wholesale and real estate investment. He recently joined the Currie, Slaunwhite, Hughes & Associates team so he could assist others in achieving their financial security and long-term goals.

Hailee Currie B.Sc

Marketing Coordinator

Hailee was born and raised in Baddeck, Cape Breton. She currently resides in Rocky Point, Prince Edward Island with her husband Jamie, and their two children Breton and Emerson. Hailee holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Saint Mary’s University and she joined Currie, Slaunwhite, Hughes & Assocaites in 2016.

Hailee has a passion for horses (Standardbred) and is involved in the harness racing community. She also enjoys traveling and spending time with her family back in Cape Breton.
